Raw Food Primer
This little raw food primer gives us a look into a truly natural world of eating. How many animals on this earth cook their food? Gorillas are the prime example of the results of a raw food diet. They are big and healthy and just live on vegetables. They eat most of the foods we eat but they don't cook it.
That is not to say that we should never eat cooked food. But there are tremendous benefits of raw foods and yet most on the SAD (Standard American Diet) eat less than 10% of their diet in the raw food form. When food is cooked, enzymes are destroyed as well as many other phytonutrients. There are over 10,000 known phytonutrients in raw food. They are like the stars when we include the unknown substances. These serve our bodies in ways we cannot imagine. We need these living foods to build our body cells and supply the building blocks of our tissue and bones.
I want to overcome one common misconception up front. I am not in favor of eating raw meat. So if you are going to eat meat, please cook it. It can make you very sick. Parasites are in raw meat that are not killed by our digestive juices. They do not make good tenants.
But most other foods can be eaten without being cooked. Some such as grains and nuts should be soaked for some hours before eating it.
